I am pleased to announce that Federal and State Governments has agreed to pursue other alternative sources of energy namely gas to meet Sabah's power supply needs.
On behalf of the State Government and the people of Sabah, I wish to accord my heartfelt thanks to YAB PM for not only being attentive to our power supply needs but also for his grave concern over our environment.
The Prime Minister understands that while we need to build up our power supply in Sabah, it can't be done at the expense of the people's welfare and the environment.
The PM understands that one of Sabah's greatest assets is its natural attractions and still somewhat pristine environment. While Sabah needs to increase power supply to meet increasing development, the state cannot afford to put its natural environment at risk.
As a responsible government, it is paramount that we put priority on protecting our environment for the wellbeing of the people. We must also protect the environment especially since its one of biggest tourism draw in the Sabah.
The growth of nature adventure ecotourism depends on how well we keep our natural environment intact and not expose it to unnecessary risks.
I know there has been certain objections to the proposed coal powered plant. Today is proof that such objections have not fallen on deaf ears.
The BN government under the able leadership of YAB PM is a government that listens to people and has the political will to take the higher road and not bring coal to Sabah. Our approach towards development will be balanced and sustainable.
The BN government is also mindful that Sabah energy needs must be met to ensure equitable development throughout the state including the east coast where there is a shortage of power.

Diharapkan kerajaan Sabah akan teruskan usaha memulihara alam semulajadi Sabah dan menggunakan penjana kuasa yang lebih bersih dan hijau.

keputusan kerajaan ini disokong oleh semua pihak. ini kerana ianya bersesuaian dengan kehendak oarang ramai.

Having the government to cancel the coal power plant in sabah proves that the government does prioritize the voice of sabahans.
Hopefully the government is able to find an alternative that is environmental friendly. It's important to preserve Sabah natural environment as it is the main attraction that brought tourist come to sabah in the first place.
Upon knowing this good news, I think I know which side to vote for when election comes.
Jadi kita bakal menggunakan gas asli sebagai penjana?
penggunaan sumber alternatif iaitu gas adalah lebih bersikap mesra alam berbanding arang batu.
pembinaan janakuasa arang batu mmg byk diprotes oleh rakyat dan akhirnya kerajaan mendengar juga suara rakyat untuk tidak membina janakuasa arang batu.
It is irrelevant actually if this coal plant thing is approved when Musa Aman tried his best to conserve Sabah's forest. But now, the years questions are answered; luckily a positive answer and we as the people of Sabah the land below the wind are very thankful for the very wise decision.
Saya yakin pasti ramai pihak yang gembira dengan keputusan ni.
Macam inilah baru namanya rakyat diutamakan. Setiap keluhan rakyat harus diambil kira bagi memastikan setiap perkara yang dibuat disenangi ramai.
Semoga tenaga alternatif yang dibangunka itu nanti dapat menaggani masalah b/out di negeri ini.
selepas ni harap takda pihak lagi yang cuba mempolitikan isu coal plant utk kepentingan diri sendiri.

the decision has been made..now we know what the govt stand on this issue..
this is totally a great news..
this shows that govt specially sabah CM and PM were listening to what people says and want..
hope after this, there's no one will politicizing this issue again.

since government has give their explanation and assurance that the government will not build coal plant in this state, so this issue should not be debated again. let's concentrate about what is the best solution to replace coal plant in order to overcome electricity shortage in this state and to protect our environment.
The government decision get a support from Sabahan. So, after this government can consider what the people protest soon. for the goodness we all.
the government especially Sabah CM and PM should have our praise on their concerns which not only give serious attention to the needs of electricity supply in this state, but also a high concern on our environment.
